This is prettiest Port in Alaska!! The mountains that surround the Port are majestic and the wild fireweed everywhere is just stunning! I loved this sleepy little Port. We docked here for 2 days and had the place to ourselves except for the locals and summer campers who were also here enjoying the beauty and quaintness of this special place. The Peonies Festival was in full bloom while we were here, so walking around the downtown in the lovely sunshine was delightful. The ship provided a shuttle into town, since the pier sits out on the far end of a Spit of Land, that creates a nice beach, marina and boating areas, about 5 miles away from the downtown and residential areas.

I really enjoyed all the quaint local touches and we had a yummy late lunch of Pizza at Fat Olives.

We left the Great Wall and went to THE MING TOMBS - however we were disappointed to find there was nothing there except the grounds.
